We are a mixed team of Western and Indian staff with a passion for conservation-based farming and deep respect for the complexities of nature.
Trustee: Dr Krishna Kant Shukla (contact t: 0091 9452286673 /e: email@example.com). Classical Indian musician, philosopher and poet, with a PhD in Physics. Krishna believes the Saha Astitva Eco Farm is an essential project to safeguard communities and the natural environment, a perfect solution to the dilemma’s of modern society. Krishna gives lectures on classical music, Indian philosophy and spiritual ecology. He feels the farm is an embodiment of the latter.
Saha Astitva Foundation Founder: Artist Daniel Hayes Uppendahl (contact: firstname.lastname@example.org) from the US lived in Ganeshpuri for 11 years, developed the objectives of the Trust in line with the local environment, indigenous people’s needs and requirements. Daniel beautifully landscaped the farm creating an ecologically-balanced inspirational space.
Saha Astitva Founder: Karen Kalyani Uppendahl (contact: email@example.com) from England, lived in Ganeshpuri between 2007 and 2013.
Prior to arriving in India she worked as a project manager in resource efficiency in a prestigious UK environmental consultancy for 10 years. She developed a passion for organic farming in relation to our physical health and the health of our societies and planet.
Saha Astitva Director: Aparna Bangia (contact: firstname.lastname@example.org). Artist Aparna from Mumbai has been running the farm since 2013. She has seen the farm through a major transition established local partners and is passionately involved in the farmer’s co-operative and encouraging women’s participation.
We work with young local Warli adivasi community from Gorad village, who learned new skills and received resources in the form of training and materials for their own farms.
