Meet the farmers

Ladku vanshya  Dodhade – 51  years.  They are a family of seven in total with his wife, 2 sons and daughter in laws and a grandchild.

He has been working with Saha Astitva for the last five years and the for the first time planted indigenous Rice ( Ashwini) along with other paddy rice for his family consumption and to sell. He owns 1.5 acres but only grows during the rainy season as otherwise the water in his well is mostly dry despite being provided with a pump.

He is keen to create a rainwater harvesting pond and be able to grow the flowers along with his vegetables for consumption as well as selling.

 

The soil is clayey and tends to be cracked during the dry months which is February to Early June till the rains.
